Dr. SHI Zhicai is a Chief Physician, Professor and doctoral supervisor. He has received many prestigious awards including the Second‑class National Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress and the First‑class Shanghai Technological Invention Award.
He has long‑standing clinical experience in spinal surgery. His main practice covers degenerative cervical and lumbar diseases, spinal deformities, spinal trauma and spinal tumours, with particular expertise in the surgical treatment of cervical spondylosis, cervical neoplasms and congenital craniocervical malformations.
He is one of the early generation experts pioneering new type cervical spine surgeries in China
. He developed the technique of cervical internal fixation using PEEK (polyetheretherketone) cervical fusion cages, Multiple surgical approaches are applied for degenerative lumbar pathologies, he has performed nearly 20 000 spinal surgeries.
