Dr. Daniel SHI serves as the associate chief surgeon of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Jiahui Health. Dr. SHI obtained his PhD degree in surgery from Tongji University in 2012. After graduation, Dr. SHI worked as resident and attending doctor in the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics at Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University. In 2011, he went for a 7-month Orthopedics and Sports medicine training in the Department of Orthopedics in Pittsburgh University. From 2017 to 2018, he had a 1-year Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports medicine training in the Department of Orthopedics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia affiliated to Pennsylvania University.
Dr. Shi has worked for more than 20 years of experience in clinical, research and teaching orthopedics. He has published dozens of articles and papers in leading orthopedic journals by the support of grants from Shanghai, Universities and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has also participated in Fundamentals of Hip Sonography in Infant (2nd Edition) as associate editor, Rockwood and Wilkins’ Fracture in Children (8th Edition) as an editor and Sports Traumatology (2nd Edition) as an editor. Thus, Dr. SHI specializes gradually in the area of Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
In the area of sports science and rehabilitation, Dr. Shi has mastered the science of children's fitness training and has obtained the qualification of youth fitness training instructor and assessor. In minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment area, Dr. SHI has further possessed ultrasound technology and acquired the national intermediate ultrasound qualification. In terms of minimally invasive surgery, Dr. SHI has presided over two NSFC scientific research projects on the repair of ACL injuries in adolescents and has earned two national invention patents on the regeneration and repair and reconstruction of ACL injuries. Based on the excellent regenerative ability of children and adolescents, Dr. SHI advocates minimally invasive repair surgery for ACL rupture in the hope of preserving the proprioception of the ACL to a greater extent and relying on the ACL's own repair ability to achieve the goal of rehabilitation and return to sports.
Dr. Shi takes a holistic view of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, integrating doctors, physiotherapists, mind-body medicine specialists, nutritional specialists and families to work with adolescents, treating not only the physical appearance of the abnormality, but also focusing on mental health. Dr. SHI is passionate about science popularization and willing to promote good communication with the public. He is currently a member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of Chinese Non-Public Medical Society, Permanent member of the Children's Rehabilitation Unit. He has been the Member of External Fixation Group in Chinese Society of Orthopedic Innovation and Translation, Member of Youth Commission of Professional Committee of Rehabilitation of Physically Disabled of CARD, Member of Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS) and Member of Taping Therapy Group of Rehabilitation Therapy Society in Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
