FAQs
• Will my teeth feel sore during the treatment process?
Each time your enter a new stage of treatment, most people will get sore teeth for the first few days. This is normal and shows that the Invisalign aligner is working, moving your teeth into the correct position. After wearing your aligner for a few days, this soreness will gradually disappear. If you still experience discomfort after a few days, contact your dentist immediately.
• Can I still talk normally during treatment?
Aligners, as with all other orthodontic treatment, may temporarily affect speech making speaking in the first 1 to 2 days of treatment more difficult, but unclear enunciation and a slight stutter caused by the aligners will disappear as your tongue gets used to the aligners.
• Is the aligner really invisible?
The aligners are virtually invisible, such that other people will hardly notice that you are wearing them.
• How long, on average, is the treatment process?
The treatment process depends on the individual and the length of the treatment is decided by the dentist. On average, however, adult treatment takes about 12 to 18 months. For teenagers, treatment times may be different and should be decided by the dentist.
• When will I start to notice an improvement in my teeth?
After a few months, the effects of Invisalign treatment will become noticeable.
• Will teeth need to be removed during the treatment process?
Not everybody needs to have teeth removed during the treatment process. This depends on the type of correction you are having done. Ask your dentist to find out whether you may need to have teeth removed during the treatment process.
