    • Professor Dr. Sam SHEN leads the Pulmonology Department and is a renowned expert in respiratory medicine in China and composed of an experienced clinical team. With extensive clinical experience, he specializes in diagnosing and treating common, frequent, challenging, and critical respiratory conditions. The department's services encompass disease treatment, functional assessments, and rehabilitation training.

      Specialty examinations and treatments currently performed by the Pulmonology Department include:
      (1) Bronchopulmonary interventional diagnosis and treatment: includes painless fiberoptic bronchoscopy, percutaneous transthoracic lung biopsy, transbronchial needle aspiration, endobronchail ultrasound (EBUS), balloon dilation, airway stent placement and tracheobronchial foreign body removal;
      (2) A complete set of pulmonary function tests, cardiopulmonary exercise function measurement, and respiratory function assessment;
      (3) Assessment and biopsy of abnormal lung images. Lung perfusion imaging scans and high-resolution chest CT imaging;
      (4) Multiple allergen detection;
      (5) Sleep monitoring, evaluation and treatment of sleeping disorders, Non-invasive ventilator, oral appliance, pharyngopalatine nerve pacing;
      (6) Treatment of critical respiratory illness, acute and chronic respiratory failure. Applications of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation;
      (7) Pathogen diagnosis and antibiotic treatment of respiratory tract and lung microorganisms;
      (8) Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases;
      (9) Guidance on the rehabilitation of chronic respiratory diseases;
      (10) Long-term evaluation and management of pulmonary nodular lesions;
      (11) Diagnosis and treatment of rare respiratory diseases, such as appropriate treatment of relapsing polychondritis, long-term follow-up treatment of diffuse panbronchiolitis, long-term targeted treatment of Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, long-term follow-up of sarcoidosis, ABPA, low-dose macrolide therapy for bronchiectasis.

      Dr. SHEN Ce is currently the Chief of Pulmonology of Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital. Dr. Shen graduated from the Medical School of the Second Military Medical University in 1983 and obtained his Doctoral Degree in Medicine in 2003. Before joining Jiahui, he served as the director of the respiratory department, master and doctoral supervisor of a 3A public hospital. Dr. Shen has been engaged in respiratory clinical work for more than 30 years. He is specialized in the interventional diagnosis and treatment of bronchial and lung diseases, such as the removal of polyps in the airway, balloon expansion, stent treatment for airway stenosis, and high-frequency electrical burning, etc. He is also experienced in chest difficult miscellaneous image diagnosis, such as the diagnosis and management of pulmonary nodules. He is good at the treatment of critical respiratory diseases by the technique of whole lung lavage under general anesthesia to treat pulmonary proteinosis which he is at the leading level in China. He has rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic cough.


      Dr. Shen once served as a member of the Respiratory Society of the Shanghai Medical Association and he is the leader of the Shanghai Respiratory Critical Care Group. He is currently an expert of Shanghai Maternal and Child Safety Expert Committee.

      Dr. Sophie ZOU is currently an associate chief physician of respiratory medicine. Dr. Zou obtained her bachelor degree in medicine from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Later she received her master and PhD degree in respiratory medicine from the same university. Before joining JiaHui, she worked in the department of respiratory medicine at Wuhan General Hospital of Guangzhou Military, followed by working in the postdoctoral workstation at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University (CMU) and the department of respiratory medicine at Beijing Shijitan Hospital of CMU. In 2013, Dr. Zou engaged in an advanced study as a visiting scholar at Vienna General Hospital of Medical University of Vienna for one year. She has gained rich clinical experience through working in the clinical frontline for more than 20 years, especially specializing the diagnosis and treatment of commonly-occurring, difficult or severe respiratory diseases, such as bronchial asthma and the allergic respiratory diseases.

      Dr. ZHU Dongyi graduated from the School of Medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine degree. She is employed at the Respiratory Department of Tongji University Affiliated East Hospital. During her tenure, she furthered her studies at Tongji University, earning both a Master’s and a Ph.D. degree. In 2023, she was appointed as an Associate Chief Physician at the Respiratory Department of East Hospital.

      Dr. Zhu has been working on the front lines of clinical care for 15 years, accumulating experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common respiratory diseases. She currently serves as a young committee member of the Respiratory Professional Committee of the Pudong New Area Medical Association and a committee member of the Interstitial Disease Subgroup of the Shanghai Medical Association.

      Dr. Eve ZHANG is currently the pulmonologist of Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital. Dr. ZHANG graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine. During her work, she studied at the Medical School of Shanghai Jiaotong University and obtained a master's degree in Medicine. Before joining Jiahui, she worked in Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital as an associate professor and deputy chief physician of respiratory medicine. In December 2021, she participated in the management of antibiotics, nosocomial infections and drug-resistant bacteria in Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital.


      Dr. ZHANG has worked on the clinical front line for more than 30 years and has accumulated rich clinical experience in respiratory medicine. She is not only proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of various common diseases in the respiratory medicine system, but also has profound achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and severe cases in other internal medicine systems.
