Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a type of chronic progressive inflammatory disease which mainly affects the sacroiliac joint and axial joint of spine. The disease typically begins in adolescence and young adulthood. Ankylosing spondylitis of spine and joints is the main cause of disability in AS patients. In serious cases and if the patient has not been diagnosed accurately and treated effectively, that could lead to life-threatening complications.
Low back pain, nocturnal pain which affects sleep, accompanied by morning stiffness, typically relieved after activities. Peripheral joint involvement is more common in the hips, knees, ankles and other lower limbs joint pain.
In combination with rheumatology, orthopedics, rehabilitation medicine and other disciplines, with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s condition, developing an individualized treatment plan, with the goal of controlling symptoms, preventing structural damage, restoring or retaining joint function, and reducing complications.
