Dr. Clara SU is currently Chief Physician in the Department of Psychiatry at Jiahui International Hospital. She previously served as:

- Head of the Clinical Psychology Department, Chief Physician and Professor of Mental Health at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University;
- Academic Leader and Chief Physician of Psychology at Hainan Provincial Pingshan Hospital.

With decades of dedicated practice in psychiatry, she has long been committed to introducing advanced international psychotherapy techniques and promoting the systematic development of psychiatry in Hainan Province. She is recognized as a leading figure in the field regionally.

Education

Dr. SU earned her Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine, followed by a Master’s degree and Doctoral degree in Psychology. She has a strong academic background and extensive experience in both clinical practice and teaching.

She has held key positions including:

- Director and Vice President of the Psychology and Sleep Center at Ping’an Hospital Affiliated to Hebei Medical University;
- Chief Physician and Master’s Supervisor at the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University;
- Lecturer and Psychological Counselor at the Psychological Counseling Center of Shanghai University.

She has accumulated rich experience in clinical diagnosis and treatment, education, and discipline development.

Discipline Construction

In 2018, Dr. Su led the successful application for approval of Hainan Province’s first undergraduate program in psychiatry, establishing a distinctive curriculum system and filling a critical gap in higher education for psychiatry in the region.
In September 2024, she was appointed Academic Leader of Psychology at Hainan Provincial Pingshan Hospital, where she has comprehensively promoted the professionalization and standardization of mental health teams and improved regional mental health services.

- She has contributed to 8 national planning textbooks, including those for the 11th, 12th, and 13th Five-Year Plans and international student textbooks, making outstanding contributions to psychiatric education.

Dr. Su has conducted academic exchanges and technical cooperation in the United States and Canada on many occasions:

- Research on the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorder, depressive disorder and borderline personality disorder at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Columbia University; translated and published Surviving Borderline Personality Disorder.
- Advanced academic exchanges at Western Michigan University, introducing cutting-edge therapies including CBT, BA, and DBT into clinical practice in China.

She has presented widely at national academic conferences and promoted technological innovation and academic progress in Chinese psychiatry.
