Professor, Chief Physician, Doctoral Supervisor, part-time plastic surgery physician of Jiahui Health, and PhD from Shanghai Second Medical College (now Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine). Dr. Mu studied under Zhang Jiansheng, the originator of plastic surgery in China, and studied at Necker Children's Hospital in Paris, France, California Medical Center in San Francisco, Dallas Medical City, USA, and Harvard University Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA. He was introduced to Huashan Hospital in 2011 to establish its master and doctoral program in surgery (plastic surgery).

Dr. Mu is currently the president of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery, international senior editorial board member of the American Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, reviewer of the American Journal of Plastic Surgery, vice chairman of the 3rd Craniomaxillofacial Specialty Committee of the Chinese Physicians Association of Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons Branch, vice chairman of the Craniomaxillofacial Surgery (Preparatory) Group of the Plastic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, etc. He has served as a council member of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery and president of the Asia-Pacific Craniofacial Society. He has been selected by the Ministry of Health's Excellent Talent Fund, Shanghai Education Commission's "Aurora Plan", Shanghai's "Silver Snake Award", Shanghai's "New Long March Surgeon", and Dr. Mu has been selected as one of the outstanding talents of the Ministry of Health, "Aurora Plan" of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, "Silver Snake Award" of Shanghai Municipality, "New Long March Pioneer" of Shanghai Municipality, and one administrative merit of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and has undertaken more than 20 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, published more than 100 papers (including about 30 SCI papers) and applied for more than 10 patents.

Dr. Mu specializes in the field of craniofacial surgery, and has nearly 30 years of clinical experience in various cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries on the skull, face, and five senses, and is one of the experts in China who can successfully perform combined intracranial and extracranial pathways. He specializes in the plastic treatment of various complex cranial and facial deformities, including: craniosynostosis, orbital spacing widening, facial cleft deformity, craniofacial syndrome, facial hypoplasia, post cleft lip and palate deformity, craniofacial trauma and facial contouring (jaw angle plastic, zygomatic arch plastic) and injection microplasty.
