Jiahui Health’s Department of General Surgery is made up of a professional and efficient team that offers clinical services covering various acute and chronic disorders.
The team includes eight full-time physicians from across mainland China, Taiwan, Germany, and the United States, as well as four physician associates, two da Vinci robotic surgery certified physicians, and one first assistant in surgery. Services are offered in Mandarin, Shanghainese, Hokkien, Cantonese, English, French, and German. Under the leadership of Dr. LI Jun, the Chairman of Surgery, Jiahui’s General Surgery Department consists of general surgeons, outpatient and inpatient nurses, case managers, and administrative operational managers.
The Department of General Surgery has established a comprehensive pool of experts and resources from China and abroad. It actively participates in both domestic and international clinical and academic exchanges, maintaining close collaborations with many renowned tertiary hospitals in Shanghai and international private hospitals.
Jiahui’s General Surgery Department is committed to dealing with a range of common surgical diseases and conditions, acute and chronic disorders, and tumors. It provides outpatient and inpatient services, as well as elective or emergency surgical treatment for patients with different treatment needs.Advanced equipment
• 2D/3D high-definition laparoscopic system:
Widely used in a range of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic liver resection, laparoscopic pancreatectomy, laparoscopic gastrectomy, laparoscopic radical resection, etc.
• Fluorescence-guided intraluminal endoscopy:
Leveraging indocyanine green (ICG) contrasting agents to contrast specific tissues (such as the biliary tract, blood vessels, liver tumors, or lymph nodes) against surrounding tissues. This assists with accurately locating target tissues during surgery, protecting normal tissues, and allowing for precision surgery.
• Ultrasonic surgical aspirator system (CUSA) for liver resection:
This allows for the selective comminute of liver parenchyma while preserving the bile duct and blood vessels in the liver. Allowing surgeons to perform delicate operations more accurately and precisely. This minimizes damage and significantly reduces bleeding.
• Intraoperative Doppler ultrasound:
Used for hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. During surgery, the ultrasonic probe comes into direct contact with the surface of organs or lesions. This allows for the detection of very small lesions that were not identified prior to surgery as well as determining the positional relationship between lesions and blood vessels. This provides surgeons with more accurate information about lesion size and location.
• Neuromonitoring technology:
Thyroid surgery plays a role in detecting and protecting nerves during surgery.
• Electronic anoscope:
Compared to traditional anoscopes, electronic anoscopes provide objective and intuitive imaging evidence.
• Ankle-brachial index (ABI) tests:
Used to assess the risk of peripheral arterial disease.
• CT angiography (CTA):
This is a non-invasive vascular imaging technology. A contrast agent is injected into blood vessels with CT equipment allowing for vascular imaging. This allows for the diagnosis of vascular lesions and plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of large vessel diseases, peripheral vascular diseases, aortic aneurysms, vascular malformation, vasodilation, thrombosis, etc.If you have more questions, please scan the QR code below. The services provided by the Department of General Surgery cover the diagnosis and treatment of common disorders and tumors in the thyroid gland, digestive tract (i.e., gastrointestinal tract, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, colorectum, anus), blood vessels (i.e., arteries and veins), integumentary system (i.e., the body’s outer layer), abdominal wall, etc., as well as outpatient and inpatient medical services.
• Thyroid/parathyroid: Thyroid nodules, thyroid tumors, parathyroid hyperplasia, parathyroid adenomas, parathyroid cysts, parathyroid carcinomas, etc.
• Hepatobiliary and pancreatic: Hepatic cysts, benign and malignant tumors of the liver, cholecystitis, gallbladder stones, gallbladder cancer, bile duct cancer, complex bile duct injuries, pancreatic cancer, complications of liver cirrhosis, etc.
• Stomach: Gastroesophageal reflux, gastric tumors, etc.
• Abdominal wall: Inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias, incisional hernias, linea alba, etc.
• Colon and rectum: Acute and chronic appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, colorectal malignant tumors, colonic diverticulosis, etc.
• Anus: hemorrhoids, perianal abscess, anal fistula, anal fissure, perianal eczema, anal canal cancer, etc.
• Peripheral vascular system: Including peripheral arteries and veins, such as aortic aneurysms, atherosclerosis, varicose veins, etc.
• Integumentary system (i.e., body surface): Finger and toenails (i.e., ingrown nails, paronychia, etc.), wounds (i.e., surgical wounds, cuts, abrasions, bedsores, diabetic ulcers, burns covering an area the size of less than two palms, lipoma, etc.
• Others: Abdominal emergencies (including peritonitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc.), obesity requiring bariatric surgery, various difficult abdominal and pelvic tumors, and common surgical diseases.Jiahui’s Department of General Surgery provides outpatient, emergency, surgical, and inpatient medical services for patients over the age of 14 years old.
Common treatments are:
• Hepatobiliary and pancreas:
A range of treatments are offered for patients with space-occupying liver lesions, cholecystitis, gallbladder stones, or malignant tumors that require surgical treatment. This includes various laparoscopic liver, gallbladder, and pancreas surgeries (i.e., cholecystectomy, partial hepatectomy, pancreatic tumor resection, etc.), complex bile duct surgery, liver and pancreas surgery with vascular resection and reconstruction, etc.
• Colon and rectum
A range of diagnosis and assessment techniques are offered, including electronic anoscopies to record lesions in real-time images; comfortable colonoscopy under general anesthesia for biopsies and assessment of lesions; and surgical treatment for benign and malignant colorectal lesions. Corresponding treatment plans will be determined according to the patient’s situation. Treatments offered include hemorrhoidectomy, stapled hemorrhoidectomy (PPH operation), perianal abscess incision and drainage, anal fistula thread-drawing surgery, anal fistula ligation, Delorme's procedure for rectal prolapse, laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal tumors, and intersphincteric resection.
• Stomach
For stomach cancer patients requiring surgery, we offer comfortable gastroscopies under general anesthesia and laparoscopic resection for benign and malignant tumors, such as radical gastrectomy, subtotal gastrectomy, total gastrectomy, etc. For obese patients who have been unable to lose weight through diet and exercise and have developed obesity-related metabolic syndrome, we provide minimally invasive laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy or bypass surgery. We collaborate closely with the Department of Nutrition to provide a full range of supportive care.
• Thyroid
For patients with thyroid nodules or thyroid cancer requiring surgery, we offer minimally invasive unilateral or bilateral thyroidectomy with/without neck dissection. Minimally invasive surgical options vary according to the needs of patients.
• Hernias
For hernia patients requiring surgical treatment, we provide laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair, laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair, umbilical hernia repair, as well as various other surgical options.
• Blood vessels
We provide a range of monitoring and evaluation techniques for the diagnosis of various vascular lesions, including ankle-brachial index (ABI) tests, vascular ultrasonography, CT angiography, magnetic resonance venography (MRV), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and other non-invasive techniques.
For patients requiring surgical treatment, the digital subtraction angiography (DSA) operating room is used for endovascular treatment, such as endovenous ablation, radiofrequency ablation, sclerotherapy, high ligation and stripping, arteriography, angioplasty and stent placement, inferior and superior vena cava filter placement, embolization for peripheral arteriovenous malformations, surgery for patients with bleeding disorders, etc.
• Integumentary system
Advanced equipment to reduce skin tension, wound dressing, and vacuum-assisted closure. Treatment is conducted in outpatient rooms or operating rooms to minimize wound infections and promote wound recovery.
Common surgical treatments include fingernail and toenail removal, subcutaneous tumor resection, skin lesion resection, abscess incision and drainage, etc.Jiahui Health provides high-quality, cost-effective healthcare services, giving you peace of mind.
