On October 30, 2020, the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions held its inaugural meeting. Hundreds of people from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions, well-known scholars and leaders in laboratory medicine, candidates for branch committees, and colleagues from the laboratories of various medical institutions attended the meeting.
At the inaugural meeting, the first chairperson, vice-chairperson, standing committee members, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general, and committee members of the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions were elected. Qi HOU, Chief of the Laboratory Department at Jiahui International Hospital, was elected Vice Chairman, and Jiong WU, also part of the Laboratory Department at Jiahui International Hospital, was elected Secretary-General.
At the inaugural meeting, Qi HOU also gave a report on the preparation and selection of committee members.
Director Hou Qi said that the establishment of the Laboratory Medicine Branch is only the beginning, and the work and development of the branch will need more support in the future from like-minded professionals.
Like the “precision, authority, unity, and hope” implied by the emblem, the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions will play an important role in the development and construction of the medical field. It will work to benefit society through the strengthening of academic exchanges, sharing department construction and improving medical services under the guidance of the "Healthy China" strategy and the joint efforts of the academic community and industry.
